Stuff

I'm getting the feeling that the only person who thinks that seeing Jesus Christ Superstar is really awesome is me. I get all excited and tell my friends and they just look at me with this weird blank expression. *sigh* I'm so misunderstood. I am a closet Andrew Lloyd Webber junkie and I love musicals. I saw Cats and Aspects of Love in NYC on Broadway. I haven't had the opportunity to see a lot of professional productions but I love the soundtracks.

I first saw Jesus Christ Superstar in 1993. Actually I think i saw it twice in 1993, once in Boston and once in Durham NH. I know for sure that the one in Durham was September 20th 1993 because that was Ted Neeley's 50th birthday. Me and a friend waited outside the theatre and got me meet him after the show. He was very nice and took the time to talk to everyone and sign autographs. He was very appreciative of his fans. He is 65 years old this year , but I don't care, I still love him.

So then I was still on the Centertix website and I saw that the Alaska Theatre of Youth was putting on Fiddler that same weekend so I bought a ticket to that too. I remember we did Fiddler when I was in high school and I bought the movie starring Topol. I loved the music and the play. I hear that Topol is touring with Fiddler again and I wish that I could see it.

I have been sick since last Thursday. It started as a sinus thing with the drippy snotty nose and has progressed to a chest thing with lung debris of various shades. I stayed inside all weekend and did a lot of sleeping and laying around. I reluctantly dragged my butt out of bed this morning and went to work. Thankfully I have Veteran's Day off and I can sleep in.

You are not the only one excited about Jesus Christ Superstar! This was my sister's favorite movie growing up, so we played the soundtrack non stop. I've seen it once before but it will be cool to see in Anchorage where we don't get to see many productions of this caliber.

I have never actually seen it, but I know the songs by heart. I used to constantly play my mother's LP when I was about seven, and wore out my cassette back when I didn't have a CD player in my car. (That would be last year.) I would LOVE to see it, except I'd probably both cry and sing along.

I love musicals in general, and that one in particular. We sang some of the songs in chorus when I was in high school. Have fun!

I gave your blog a shout-out on my blog today.

The teachers at my son's Catholic high school called me a hard-core atheist. Nevertheless, one of the most remarkable shows I have ever seen was JCS at the Universal Studios outdoor theater. My husband is absolutely head over heels crazy about musicals, especially the "classic" ones like Oklahoma, The Music Man, etc., and could watch them all day long - merrily singing along, of course.

This is one of my favorite musicals/shows of all time! My dad introduced my brother & I to it when we were kids, & this past April it was on tour & the whole family went & saw it. Plus I saw a local theater group do it about four years ago, now. I never get tired of it, & actually just listened to part of the soundtrack when it came on shuffle!

My parents took me to see Jesus Christ Superstar when I was in junior high - I STILL remember it like yesterday! It is an awesome show - to the fullest of the word. Hope you have a blast! Oh, and your ghetto post office actually looks bigger than the one in my hometown. We barely have room for two at the counter. Apparently, we don't deserve one either!

Since 1973 I have loved JCS and Ted Neeley. Who knew (until I got a computer last year) that he was still doing the rock opera.
I bought not 1 CD, but 2 CD's of JCS with Ted, and also purchased not 1 but 2 DVD's so neither one would wear out...LOL
So, NO, you are not alone...and I get the same "deer in headlights" looks from people when I am so excited that I get to see Ted Neeley and JCS this coming January live!!!!!

Join the club! There are quite a lot of fans of both JCS and Ted Neeley even after 35 years. Saw the show 6 times in the past two years, and met Ted 5 of those times. He's an amazing human being, with the sweetest, gentlest nature. Hope you get to meet him one day...
On another note, Norman Jewison directed both film versions of JCS and Fiddler in the 1970's, and both shows are currently touring starring the two gentlemen from the movies: Topol and Ted!
Just another Tedhead!
