Best Laid Plans

Well even the best laid plans get derailed. Last night I came down with what surely must be Malaria or Amoebic Dysentery. I spent the whole night and all day today in close contact with the toilet. For most of the day it was threatening to come out of both ends.

We had to cancel our trip to Canobie Lake Park. We had the day all planned out. Uyaana was sad. The good news is we will have time to go next week. The bad news is that it is supposed to be 90 degrees next week. I'll probably die of heat stroke.

Uyaana spent the afternoon playing Wii with his teenage cousins. It's all he could talk about. I'm sure he will be begging for his own Wii soon. Last Christmas he asked Santa for a Wii. I told him that Santa was all out. He said "But mom.....Santa MAKES Wii's." I said "No he doesn't....he buys them from Japan".

Bummer! Hope you feel better right away!
We've always been VERY anti-computer games but now that my daughter is turning 13 we are rethinking things and considering a Wii. We don't have broadcast TV either-just rent netflix. Well, we are now noticing that none of her friends want to hang out at our house! No tv, no video games, no junk food, no soda... We're realizing how important it is have a home where her friends are comfortable and where we can see WHO HER FRIENDS ARE and KNOW what they are doing! Otherwise she would always be somewhere else! So, we got a DVD player for the downstairs tv so they can rent movies and we are considering a Wii. At least the Wii gets 'em off their butts. (I've seen the kids work up a sweat playing wii next door!) And we'll go easy on the junk food ban-is pop and chips and ice cream really so bad every other weekend?! It's been a real learning experience for Mom and Dad!

Bummer to be sick on vacation! If you're still feeling awful, try and get to a health food or vitamin store for some pro-biotics (acidophilus) and take it ASAP. It helps get things back on track again much quicker. There are a lot of GI (gastrointestinal, not military, lol) bugs going around right now, and when we had a bout with this a couple of weeks back...this helped greatly.

Our son is begging for a Wii, too. I've heard that people are losing weight playing some of those games because you have to MOVE with them. I suppose they could be used well as an incentive to get homework and chores done, and when used for limited amounts of time could actually count as exercize.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

Feel better. Soon. Did you have the 90 degrees plus today like we did? I came out of school at 3:00 and my car temp thing said 102. I think it was from sitting in the sun, but it IS hot. How miserable to be sick when it's actually steamy hot.
So maybe Uyaana wasn't just car sick the other day - and he's been kind enough to share with mom? Kids are great.

Drat, dang it. Sorry to hear your trip back east has been waylaid by some kind of crud.

Of course, I'm finally heading back out to the land of OTZ after many postponements. Guess that Crystal Light will have to wait for next time.

Feel better.
