Who Are You?

When I started this blog the main reason was so I had a place to show my family pictures. It seemed like the best way for them to ave easy access to pictures and information.I have never been a very good blogger. I have a tendency to go weeks between posts. As time went on I stuck a stat counter on here so I could see what the traffic on my blog looked like. Over the past month the visits have increased and diversified. That got me to thinking.....who ARE these people?

Some of you are family, my dad, and my aunt, etc. Some are people who just wander through never to return. But some of you.....some of you keep coming back and I wonder who you are......how did you get here.....what keeps you coming back??? I get hits from regulars that I don't even know. I find that fascinating. I never really thought of my life as all that interesting so the fact that people I don't even know keep coming back is really, well....neat. I think that is the reason that I have been posting more often. I know that there are people that are waiting for me to post something new and I don't want them to come here and find nothing new. I don't want to disappoint you all.

So thank you to all of you who take the time out of your lives to visit me, a perfect stranger, and give me the inspiration to keep this thing going. Give me a shout, let me know where you come from, how you ended up here, and why you come back. Let me know what you want to see, or any questions you want to ask. I'll do my best to give it to you. And to those of you who have asked questions in the past, I'm working on it, I haven't forgotten you.

Can you tell which search terms get people to your site? With wordpress I can and "karelian bear dogs" is one of the most frequent ones.

Cathy, I stop in fairly regularly since I found you through Confessions of a Pioneer Woman. I love your photography, and also what you write about. Have always wanted to visit Alaska --- "before I die" which I am not expecting imminently.

I'm a native Ohioan but I have also lived in Michigan, Texas, Florida, San Francisco, Maryland, and now in Utah. My husband is retired Army.

Would love to hear how you happened to land in Alaska, and if you are there permanently. I perused some of your archives, but missed the answers to those questions if you have said.

Keep up the good work.

Hi Cathy. I arrived at your blog for the first time a few weeks ago via Wordless Wednesday. I keep returning because I like what I see and read here. Your photos are great, and your tales of life above the Arctic Circle are interesting, probably because the environment is such a contrast to where I live -- and of course you write well.

I have had a similar experience to yours in that I believed my blog would mainly be of interest to family and friends, and instead most of the regular visitors are total strangers. Or were strangers -- I'm getting to know them now, via their comments.

Can't wait to see what you're going to produce with your D40. ;-}

Hi, Cathy. I, too, linked from Pioneer Woman. I was intrigued by your "tundratantrum" name, as anything with the word "tundra" in it catches my attention. I was so excited to see that not only were you writing from AK, but Kotzebue of all places. It's my own long story, but the basics are I have been involved in the Iditarod as a teacher, making several trips to AK, and b/c of that, I know John Baker (not personally) and b/c of THAT, know a bit about Kotzebue. I know it isn't someplace that you end up randomly, like Anchorage! I'm a teacher in a small school - preK-12 has less just a little over 400 kids, live in a small town/rural area in western NY near the Pennsylvania border, with no large cities anywhere nearby (1 & 1/2 hours to get someplace to shop), and raise dogs and children - 4 of each. My plan for retirement is actually to raise sled dogs, and dogsled.Right now, I just make an annual trip somewhere - last year it was Maine, this year it is looking to be New Hampshire, to winter camp and dogsled for a week, as I don't currently have time to train my own dogs yet, although I do have my own sled. I have two AK huskies now, which is why I was curious about the KBD you have - I totally love dogs, big ones. I'd have one of every shape, and color if I could. I love your blog. I think you are a great photographer, and have an interesting, if normal to you, life. You definitely are far more "real" in my book, and therefore definitely far more interesting, than the Pioneer Woman. I enjoy her posts, but there's not much "real" about her life, compared to mine, so it sometimes is hard to relate. I don't have a ranch, a lodge, and a farm. Or a nanny, or a new bathroom that is bigger than my house, or any ability to cook or take pictures. I teach, take care of my kids and my dogs, write, and read. That's pretty much it!! Anyways, keep up the great work. I LOVE your blog, and I think you are a REALLY interesting person. Glad I stumbled across it.
