Youth Softball

.

Photobucket
Today was Uyaana's first softball game.

Photobucket
The season has been going on for a while but he missed his first few games because we were out of town.

Photobucket
Max and Uyaana are on the same team.

Here are some of the older boys waiting for their game.

As you can see we don't have to worry about mowing our field.

Vote for Me!

.

A while ago I entered an Alaskan recipe contest at the Tundra Telegraph. The recipe had to have a story and photos to go along with it. I submitted my story on how to kill and cook an Alaskan King Crab. So be a good doobie, head on over to Tundra Telegraph and take a look. I don't think you have to register in order to vote. Tundra Telegraph is a great place to read stuff about bush Alaska. So go and check the recipes out. If you like mine vote for me by leaving a comment after my recipe entry.

Bluebells Blooming

.

Photobucket
When we left Kotzebue on June 12th there wasn't much blooming. The leaves were just barely coming out on some of the willow bushes and the only flowers that were out were the wooley lousewort. When we got back to Kotzebue on the 24th of June there was green grass, green leaves and all kinds of flowers. I will try and take some more photos f the flowers tomorrow.

Cabela's

.

Photobucket
Yesterday my dad, brother and I went to Cabela's in Scarborough, Maine. It take about an hour and a half to get there from where my family lives in Gilford, NH.

Photobucket
They had some good sales for Father's day.

Photobucket
I got two camp chairs, a pair of Crocs, two self inflating sleeping pads, a pair of rubber boots and a life jacket for Uyaana, a sausage kit, and three mini multi tools.

Photobucket
The center of the store has a huge display of animals.

Photobucket
This polar bear was part of the display. The plaque says that this polar bear was shot by "Russel Uhl" in Kotzebue in 1965.

This evening Uyaana and I will be going to the movies to see Shrek Forever After. Then tomowwor is our last full day in New Hampshire. Wednesday we head to Boston to start our trip back to Alaska.

Zeb's Country Store

.

When you go to Conway, NH you have to go to Zeb's Country Store. It's lots of fun. I posted some photos last year when we visited there. I think I should get a discount or something for my yearly advertising.

Pilgrimage to the Motherland 2010

.

Right now Uyaana and I are sitting int he Sea-Tac airport waiting for a redeye to Boston.

Photobucket
This is a photo of the army guy in our row from Anchorage to Seattle. Nice enough fella. He bore a striking resemblance to my brother except he was schnockered and chatty. I thanked the good Lord when he finally passed out.

So we will be in New Hampshire until the 24th. Hopefully I will be posting some photos of our travels.
