Superstorm

.

That's what the National weather service is calling it. You can see the text of the storm warning **here**. We get quite a few gnarly storms here in the winter, but they are saying that this is the biggest storm in this region since 1974. It's just now starting to some into Kotzebue. The winds are picking up and are 41-54mph now. They are expecting winds to 70mph or more. Time will tell.

The storm has made the news all over. You can read the following articles if you like...

I will try and take some photos and video during the storm but I won't be able to post the videos until later. My internet at home is too slow for uploading video. My plans for this storm are to read my book, watch some tv, sleep in, and bake some banana bread.

Stay safe! Sending lots of good thoughts to Kotzebue and the rest of the villages getting slammed by the storm.

May you all be safe through this storm!
I just love your true Alaskan "tude":
"Read a good book & bake banana bread"
And then you say you'll get pics for us!! VERY COOL! You will have to show them on The Weather Channel.
They rarely remember there are western states, let alone a Northern state! LOL
But don't blow away!Promise?

The Anchorage Daily News is looking for story-telling photos from the storm affected areas. I'd love to see your photos. You might consider posting some to our reader-submitted gallery at http://community.adn.com/plain/node/109593
