Independence Day Parade 2010

.

Today was the main day of Kotzebue's Independence Day Celebration. It started out with a parade at 10 am. Local businesses and whoever else wants to can make a float or walk, or ride bikes in the parade. It was a very foggy day today. None of our scheduled flights made it in. It's pretty much been pea soup all day. It was also quite chilly. The temp has been in the low forties with a wind chill in the thirties.....but like I always say, I'd rather be cold than hot. I didn't move to Alaska to sweat.

Thanks again, Cathy - you don't see this Alaska very much. Regards, AussieAlaskan

How come they did it on the 3rd? I love the Maniilaq float. Glad to see they did something different this year. Hope they win!

Nome had a wonderful sunny parade, and street games this year.

Denver got an inch of rain. I didn't go to any fireworks shows, but I can only guess people were watching from their cars with the windshield wipers going.

They had the parade on third because almost all of front street is closed for construction.

We had it on the 3rd because people didn't want to conflict with church, so it was a two day event. All day Saturday and from 1:00 pm on down Sunday. :)
