Ok, here is the plan for this week. I have posted the schedule for the 1st Annual Arctic Circle Spring Festival. It pretty much tells you everything that is going on in Kotzebue for the rest of the week. Usually I take and post photos of the Arctic Circle Championships dog races, the AFWG Memorial Snowmachine race and the Kobuk 440. However this year will be a little different.
The plan this year will be for me to follow the Kobuk 440 race and provide coverage for the Alaska Dispatch and the Kobuk 440 facebook page. On Thursday I will be flying to Selawik to wait for the mushers to arrive. Then I will fly ahead to Ambler and then onto Kiana. I may or may not be able to make it back to Kotzebue for the finish.
This is the first time that we are trying this. Since I will be updating the Alaska Dispatch and the Kobuk 440 facebook page I may not have time to update this blog too. What I will do is starting tomorrow there will be a "Sticky" post that will remain at the top of the blog for the duration of the 440. There will be a link on how to get the Alaska Dispatch's page and to the Kobuk 440 facebook page. Any other current posts will be below that "sticky" so you will need to scroll down and check.
I will also be at the musher drawing tonight and will post some photos from that and try to get them up on the blog before I leave to follow the race.
Unfortunately this schedule means that I will not be covering the sprint races, the snogo race or most of the Spring Festival activities. I'm hoping that people will be willing to take photos and/or video and send it to me and I will post it here on the blog for them. I would hate to have all these activities happen without being able to post photos.

Hey, if my buddy Roger is there tonight, can you take a REALLY nice picture of him for me? THANKS! :)
It is so cool that you are doing this -- I've never been able to follow a race until this year on Facebook. Amazing.
