Tis the season for sucking up puddles. The gravel is still frozen and there is nowhere for all the melt water to go. This guy spends all day driving around to various puddles around town and sucks them up. when the tank is full he discharges it out onto the ice on the lagoon. This truck is doing double duty as it is also the honeybucket sucker.

Fishing Fun
.
The other day, after work, some of us decided to go fishing for sheefish.
Too bad for me, I was only catching flounder.
Here is Mike with the first Alaskan fish he has ever caught.
Liz was having a nice time hooking and enjoying the sweater weather.
Uyaana wasn't catching anything, but he tried.
The fish weren't biting much but we all had a nice time standing out on the ice on a nice spring day.
Maija and her Cheez-Its.
Unfortunately this was NOT our sled. This is the sled of the guy who was fishing this spot before us. Apparently he caught all the fish and didn't leave us any.
Liz caught a flounder.
She was so excited she dropped it.
Maija caught the first sheefish....a small one.
Mike caught the second, and last, sheefish of the evening.
These are geese!! If I had to guess I would say they look like Speckled Bellies, but maybe I'm wrong. They were far away.
Bailey and Tracey heading home to Ivik.

This Little Piggy Gets a Polish
.
Today I had my first ever pedicure. My friend Bree, in her never ending quest to tame my inner (and outer) barbarian, talked me into it.
"You'll love it" she said.
"But my feet are terrible" I protested.
"Just try it" she said.
"But I haven't shaved my legs in MONTHS!" I whined.
"They won't care" she said.
So with great trepidation I went to the nail place. I looked in and there were MEN giving pedicures. Hey, no one said anything about MEN looking at my hairy legs while shaving inches of dead skin from my gnarly feet. I almost ran away. Before I could wuss out Bree dragged me across the room and told me to sit in a chair.
Thankfully it was a woman who came out to do my pedicure. As she pared away at my neglected cuticles she was chattering away in Vietnamese and laughing with the lady working next to her. I bet they were making fun of my hairy legs.
She clipped and scrubbed and filed and rubbed and scraped and buffed and polished. She certainly earned her money on me.
And here it is, the finished product. I think this is the first time I have ever had polish on my toes and I feel a bit ridiculous.
A friend said to me "You know you have to take that stuff off with nail polish remover? Do you have any?"
I said "No, I was just planning on letting it wear off over time like the barbarian that I am.

Beat city now now, Woo-oo-oo
.
Driving around Anchorage reminds me of this song from Ferris Bueller's Day off.
I'll be in Anchorage until Saturday afternoon. Been taking photos here and there of this and that.
Dinner on the run.
It was snowing pretty hard when I first got into town.
It was melting as soon as it hit the pavement so the roads were good.
Today was a beauuuuuutiful day.
Here are some people having a party.
A Tea Party.
I just thought this VW Van was interesting.
This is the way to go get dog food...
....down at Alaska Mill and Feed,
Shortcut through Mountain View.
Might go to the movies tonight. I want to see Hot Tub Time Machine, but my friend, Bree, doesn't want to.
