When my mother was a little girl, her mother used to tell her that the rays of light that show through the clouds were angels looking down on us from heaven.
My mom used to say it was the Angels drawing water - no idea what that meant, but the shorthand, when we would see that, was "drawing water." Wish I knew now what she meant by that.
