I went shopping at the Farmers Market for salmon in Oregon a couple of weekends ago...they were selling fresh caught wild Alaskan salmon for $17 a pound! I asked my mom about the difference, she said it had to do with not being able to process the fish in Kotzebue and having to pay for shipping on whole fish. It's too bad, I'd love to buy Kotzebue salmon at the store, just out of good old home pride!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08428571975983778705noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6384835463263616272.post-21691191870846413632010-08-07T05:56:14.247-08:002010-08-07T05:56:14.247-08:00Salmon very pricey in grocery stores and restauran...Salmon very pricey in grocery stores and restaurants, but very good :)
love the pictures :0)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6384835463263616272.post-41241934676182370972010-08-07T03:25:40.769-08:002010-08-07T03:25:40.769-08:00Great pics, as always, of the fishing!
Looks like ...Great pics, as always, of the fishing!
Looks like a great summer day up there!
It's amazing how little the fishermen get compared to the price of salmon in the store! Middle man gets it all!
Same here in the Maritimes, fishermen barely catch enough to pay for the fuel to retrieve the lobster traps.
But at the store or restaurant it's a whole nother story on price!Kathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00106749919609721913noreply@blogger.com
